Stewart MacTavish
December 25, 1908 to March 30, 2010
Stewart graduated from St. Andrew’s College, Saskatoon, in 1934 and for several years was it’s oldest living graduate. He was ordained as a minister in the United Church of Canada in 1934 and, with his beloved wife Joan served congregations around Saskatchewan for over 40 years. They raised four children. St. Andrew’s awarded Stewart a Doctor of Divinity degree in 1999.
Stewart brought the same congenial and humble nature to Scottish country dancing that he brought to his years of ministry. Stewart and Joan danced with the Saskatoon Club for many years beginning in the late 1970s. According to those who danced with him, Stewart didn’t always know where he was going, but always got to the right place by the end of the dance! We give thanks for his long, generous and faith-filled life in our midst.
