Joan MacTavish
August 30, 1920 to May 19, 2010

Joan studied education at the University of Saskatchewan and the Normal School in Moose Jaw. She taught school until she married the minister – the Rev. Stewart MacTavish, in 1941. Joan was a talented, industrious and popular co-worker with Stewart in ministry. As well as raising four children and teaching piano and voice lessons, she often acted as choir director and church organist in the congregations they served. After retirement, she continued to fill in as organist for churches and funeral homes. She sang with the University Chamber Singer and the choral society, became an accomplished painter, and danced with the Saskatoon Scottish Country Dancers for many years, beginning in the late 1970s. As in all aspects of her life, she danced with energy and enthusiasm. We give thanks for Joan’s rich and busy life and for the artistry she shared so widely.
